Hi Jonathan
Have a look under their account settings for the particular IMAP
account, and look what they have set for 'Message Synchronising' under
'Synchronisation & Storage'. Do they have 'Keep messages in all folders
for this account on this computer' selected ?
There is an 'Advanced' option to allow you to select which folders are
downloaded in full.
(I'm using Thunderbird 60.2.1 running on Ubuntu connecting to a dovecot
IMAP service)
Cheers
Paul
