[LCA2019 Chat] Headless RPi setup

Hi folks,

Has anybody found an effective way to set up their RPi Zero yet, in the absence of a male micro-USB to female USB A connector, and a mini-HDMI adaptor (or HDMI-capable screen)?

I've dropped Raspbian full <http://ucmirror.canterbury.ac.nz/linux/raspbian/2018-11-13-raspbian-stretch-full.zip> onto my microSD card, followed this guide <https://medium.com/@DavidMaitland/raspberry-pi-zero-headless-setup-92fb72daf88d> to set up networking, enable SSH, and have set a unique hostname in /etc/hosts and /etc/hostname, and then booted the device.

SSHing to <hostname> or <hostname.local> is unsuccessful. It's possible that inter-device connection is blocked on the LCA wifi, or that I've done something wrong.

Interested in others' experiences. No big deal, though.
